At Phuket's Boat Lagoon Resort Tuesday, a meeting
was held to discuss the final public hearing on the proposed two-lane underpass
construction to reduce traffic congestion.
The design chosen was based on the least impact on local
residents and the environment. Motorcycles will not be permitted to use the
underpass. Instead, motorcycles coming
from Phuket Town heading toward the airport will use a dedicated lane on the
surface.
The intersection project has already received a budget of
600 million baht for fiscal 2012 and is ready for immediate construction.

For most residents and holidaymakers to Phuket this will be a welcome relief to the congested roads, near and around the airport.
Good luck Phuket with continuing plans to improve all known
issues affected residents and tourists alike.
